Default C4 interiors ..

As I look at 92-96 C4's for sale, I notice that it is pretty common for the seats to be worn away... typical for the mileage / years I am looking at... Briefly looking on e.bay, etc.. I've seen seat covers in the $400-$700 range (leatherate, vinyl, leather...)....but haven't seen a price for the cushion inside...

What's a reasonable $$ to figure for restoring the interior on a C4, as a daily driver? $1K!?!? I guess you typically would have to replace the seat cushions/foam, the seat covers, and rug, probably the shifter...

I see C4's on the market for monthssss, and even $10K seems expensive now, with some going as low as $7K!! So, just trying to see how much to budget off the top for interior..

tks

Seats, like all aspects of a car wear. Dropping in and dragging out of a C-4 takes it's toll on the interior. Quick attention to covering flaws can save a lot of money down the road. It's just like changing oil. I agree there are a lot of DD's with 100,000 miles that have pretty torn up interiors. I would never let mine get that bad. What it might cost varies on company and sale price and shop doing work or do-it-yourself. you can wrap up a lot of bucks replacing interior parts, leather seats, carpet, and OMG, door panels are rediculous. If your gonna keep it, and you want it cherry, a stitch in time......

Forum vendor Wilcox regularly has a sale going. Interior kits start around $1200, and include carpet, seat covers and door panels. Seat pads, leather, etc. make the price go up. Catch them at forum special time and you can usually knock some off the price.

If you want a cheap alternative for the seat covers to get you by, search Iggee seat covers on eBay. Installed properly, they look nice and are only $180. Buy some carpet dye and you are set until you are ready to drop the big bucks to redo it the right way.

I'm not sure if the seats are the same as my 84, but I bought red synthetic leather = vinyl seat covers in the correct color for $230.00/ pair delivered, from a place on Ebay shipping out of South Carolina.
I did them my self, had never done this before, and it took 4 hrs for each seat.
The worst part was that my hands were sore for about two weeks and I see cheap hog ring plyers in my worst nightmares.
It is amazing how much the interior looked by simply replacing the seat covers!

I think that is the same guy I am thinking of buying from. Did you go with or without perforations?

I decided to go without the perforations. And again, I was amazed by how perfect these seat covers are -they have all the right sections and hog ring attachment points.
Obviously I have only had them on for a few months and don't know how well they will hold up long term, but this is a car that I drive every nice day. Not a lot of miles, but the in and out is pretty heavy, which is what wears the seat material.

I have always been **** about the way I keep my cars, especially the interiors. I notice that many folks who go through the trouble of keeping their cars looking good on the outside often drop the ball when it comes to the interior. Years ago when I owned a 1970 Roadrunner, I was constantly repairing the bolster on the driver's seat and, ever since then, I have made a conscious effort to figure out how to get in an out of whatever car I own without rubbing against the bolster. I have mastered this with my 1995 Corvette but there is definitely a trick to getting in and out. But the rewards are that after 14 years, there are none of the telltale rubs and tears anywhere, including the bolster.

You might be better served man if you start your own thread instead of hijacking this one. Just sayin.

Same dude I was about to buy from.......until he evidently went out of business after stiffing some folks. I guess I should say I hope nothing bad happened to him to make him suddenly stop responding to emails and delivering covers that had been paid for.
Coolsprings is his handle.

It depends on if you want to restore to original or use less expensive replacements until you can get up the money to do so.

The seats in mine were worn on the driver side, so I purchased the Iggees seat covers as a temporary fix, and so far I have not replaced them as I am happy with them for now.

When they start to wear, then I will be looking at replacing the original, but they are a good temp fix.

As far as seat cushions, check with them and see if they sell them, if not, try Wilcox or perhaps Zip?

They are both great vendors and maybe if they do not carry what you want, they can point you in the direction of someone who does.

Same here. A 96 should not be shot up

There is a tiny mark on the drivers side bolster. I swapped the seat pad over from the passenger side. Recently I tried swapping the seats themselves after I thought I'd broken the drivers side (turned out to be the secret switch that adjusts the seat back angle )

Doing this will even out the wear as the driver side gets way more action. There was a very slight difference in how they sat on the floor. I later swapped them back over

I would hold out for one with a good interior
