The front edge of the dash pad (edge closest to the windshield) in my 96 is lifting slightly on the passenger side. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? It isn't very noticeable but I do enter the car in local shows. I've checked around for a dash pad but can't find one for the 96.
I live in South Florida (Martin County) so if anyone out there can recommend a reputable upolstery shop in the area, that would be
This is a delamination of the foam from the hard plastic base - pretty common. I'm not aware of an effective fix for this except replacing the dash pad.
I have a way to recondition the top pads, I have done it on all my C4's. The pad is discontinued from GM. Its a large part to ship but if you will send it to me in Alabama, I will fix it for you N/C. corvette95@charter.net

This is interesting. As these cars continue to age this service may be in high demand!

The front of the dash on my '95 is just starting to lift as well. I would be interested in your fix as well. Either sending it to you or hearing how you repair it.

I will have to find the time to remove the dash pad from the car. It may be a while but I will stay in touch and let you know when I can ship it to you. Thanks.
I used a black weatherstipping adheasive to fix my '96. You need to follow direction closely (coat both sided, let dry about 30 minutes, re-coat one side). I used small hand clamps I had bought at Home Depot to clamp it and used paint stir sticks to even out the pressure. This will slightly crush the dash but it will come back out after about a day. By the way, I left the clamps on for 24 hours to make sure it dried well.
It has held now for several months.
I have also fabricated an aluminum trim piece for the passenger side to hold it if it comes back loose. I'll make one for the drivers side if needed. I used 3/8" screen door frame. I cut it to a 'U' shape with a drimmel tool, curved it with a hammer and painted it with black trim paint.
nope! I may do this as a side business later on. Still willing to fix "flalt4"'s dash and he can post the results
Very interesting! I suspect you will have a lot of work if you have come up with a way to get good results. Will you be rebonding the foam to the ABS substrate along the line where delamination has occurred? Can you correct the vinyl cover which has hardened and curled from UV exposure and heat?

Where the edges are curling up , I lay them day back flat, most of them turn out great. I rebond the upper foam mat to the plastic.

Thank you for the very useful information. How much time did it take you to remove the pad? Do you have any tips for the pad removal?
