"Hmmm, I don't know about the C4....it looks more like a chevy monza to me."
Oh, please.... let's not even go there! The Monza was a re-skinned Chevy Vega with a new drivetrain. Let's not talk about C4's and Vega's (or Monza's) in the same sentence. There's absolutely NO comparison whatsoever (other than to say that they are 100% opposite to each other)!
Hmmm, I don't know about the C4....it looks more like a chevy monza to me. Maybe that's the world class look GM was going for
And the miami vice Ferrari 365 Convertable was built on a C3 Corvette chassis
You know what, good for you, I didn't come down to C3 forum to beat up on you, I talking C4 's here, this is the Corvette nation, I like all Corvettes even yours.

I guess your taking my quote out of context, I was referring to the fact that the monza is a closer resemblence to those pictures of the ferrari than a C4.

Don't be so quick to get your panty's in a bunch, I wasn't "beating up on you". I was pointing out the fact that the monza looks more like that ferrari than a C4.
And I don't have nothing against the C4 corvette, if you look at my previous posts I'm wanting to swap my 88 trans am for one (which I think is a closer match the C4 styling than a 70's ferrari)
I had a 78 Monza Spyder with a 305 and 4-speed. It was a blast to drive because it didn't handle well and had Vega brakes. I would have built it up some if the kids hadn't arrived. Changing diapers kept me out of the garage.
That Ferrari might have been an influence, but I see way more C3 in the C4 than anything else. The basic proportions are the same and there are design cues all over the place.
The Monza looks to me to have borrowed its shell from the Opel Monza, which was a GM-owned German division. Opel got absorbed into Vauxhall, another European GM.
Edit - the Monza came after the Manta which is the car I was thinking of:
The Bricklin SV-1 was a gullwing door sports car built in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada from 1974 until early 1976 It looks more like a C-4 then most other cars
The Corvette design was classic. I think the engineers borrowed designs from all these cars to build the best, lightest, and stylish Corvette ever. I wonder what really was going on inside the engineers head?
I think the crew at BG, Dave Mac & his staff, had a few foreign jobs to mull over. I know in his book he did write about the 308, and the 928 (?).
I'll take the Daytona, though, it would look good next to my 90 C4!
This happened back in'72. Me & a bud were "showroom drooling" one day at Luigi Chineti's (sp) up in Greenwich, CT. We witnessed a very well dressed lady come out of the showroom door with one of the sales staff. She said to her driver, standing next to the black 71 Fleetwood Brougham, "I will get this one for Bill"....she was gesturing to a black/saddle 365GTB!
