Default headlight button

I want to install a wood dash kit on a 87 c4 and i need to remove the headlight button to install it, is there a way to remove it ? or do i have take the dash apart to get to the switch.

If you are talking about the headlight ****, its just spring loaded to the switch shaft. Pull the light switch to the "on" position, & you will see a small piece of metal inside theknob resting against the shaft. Just depress the piece of metal with a small screwdriver while lightly pulling outward on the ****, & it should slide right off. (at least mine did)

now take your little screw driver to your local junk yard and select a **** that you can actually grip with your fingers, from a myriad of late 80's vintage GM econoboxes than have ***** with same mounting method, many with 'fancy' chrome/non-slip grip/etc
