so some of you may have read some of my recent posts concerning the zf6 in my 94 vert. it wasnt going into first and 2nd gear easy, and sometimes 3rd. i also couldnt use a lower gear to decelcelerate because once i let off the clutch it would just grab really hard and it was violent on the tranny. car just didnt feel smooth at times. so the other day i picked up my castrol tws 10w-60 from the bmw dealership, and my 17mm hex key. tonight i drained and refilled the tranny. old fluid didnt look too bad and wasnt too low, but was very dark. soo, i take the car for a test, and again it doesent want to go into 1st. so i drive a few blocks before coming to the next stop sign. i try letting the lower gear slow me down, nice and smooth!!! i come to a stop, then try to go into 1st, glides right in! boom glides right into 2nd! i drove the car around for a good ten minutes and it honestly feels like a new tranny. it had me worried recently that i might be looking into having it rebuilt, but now the worries are gone. its going into gear like butter, and the whole ride just seems so much smoother. soo, if anyone has been having tranny problems lately, i suggest doing this! even if you dont know when the last time yours was done, id do it! ill be doing it again in a few months just to see if it can get any better, then ill continue to keep it fresh. sorry for the long post, but i am amazed/thrilled that it was such an easy fix!
