There is a local dealer selling a ruby red 40th. I talked to him today. It has 85k but needs a couple minor things. I am seriously considering trading mine on it. Its a ZO7 6 speed. That was my biggest regret with mine, automatic.
What do you guys think? He only wants $6995. I think that even if it needs a few things, that it is still worth it. Says it needs rear calipers, a/c work and weather stripping, and some clear is pealing on the rear bumper. And I love the color.
I would by it if I was in the US. Now that I know the Ruby inside and out, I could start rebuilding it the day I got it with parts from my 40th. If the body and interior are good, I would swap everything over, but if bad, take out the 6 speed stuff and part her out. J/K
Good buy IMHO
I am gonna look tomorrow. I doubt with that price, that he can give me anywhere close to what I want for mine, so I think I am just gonna buy it outright, then sell mine. Or keep it.
The front bumper has been painted as you can see the factory color, rubyred, is between the turn signals and the fog lights. Up until 96 I believe, they were always black.
See mine
And this one
And a 96 Collector

OH WELL, nevermind. I guess he is too busy to sell a car. I was in the area yesterday to look at it, and he was too busy, then I just called and he is again too busy. I dont need the car that bad, especially now that I know that at least the front end has been repainted. My dealership went under with me meeting people at all hours of the day or night, no matter what I had going on, not sure how he expects to stay in business. I am not gonna bother calling anymore. I allready have the cash in hand and everything, I stopped at the bank this morning. Oh well. I will just swing by and deposit it back in the account.
Having the front and or rear bumper repainted isnt the end of the world, unless it isnt disclosed at/before sale. I had my rear bumper repainted twice, after Callaway repainted the whole car. Labor kills you as the front needs to come off as well as the rear. Now if it was wrecked, unlike mine just wear and tear (I pushed the Vette into the garage and cracked the rear paint ), then that is more to the sale.
I agree, that is not a deal breaker. If the clear is pealing on the rear bumper, like he told me on the phone, then I suspect maybe a clearcoat issue. But the big issue is that I work on the road and am rarely in that area. I have been in that area both yesterday and today and he was too busy to show the car. I doubt I will be back over that way again for a couple weeks. I am on call for 2 weeks straight and never know when or where I will be. I got lucky being in that area twice, probably not gonna happen again. His response was to just keep calling him til he was available.
