Every `Vette I`ve had would go dead if I did not fire it up every week or so. My current `87 is always hooked to a battery tender whenever I am not driving it. Best $20 I ever spent on those cars.

Then you had an excessive current draw that wasn't normal.
During the winter, I have let my '96 sit for 3 weeks at a time without starting or putting any kind of charger or battery tender on. Never had any problems.
If your battery goes dead in a week or two, there is a current draw somewhere.
Under hood lights?
Console lid light?
Vanity mirror lights?
Hi First have battery and alternator checked. I know if a diode in alt is bad it will drain battery just like that[that would be the first thing I'd check]. If it's still there after you checked those two something is drawing power. That you can check by pulling battery terminal and hooking up meter between terminal and battery and start pulling fuses to see what system stops draw. That will give you an idea where to look. Most have listed underhood lights, mercury window switches.parts of Bose system as likely current draw problem areas. Good Luck Tim
