I have wondered the same on a 94. I had someone tell me to swap the lowers and take the hog rings out and swap the leather on the uppers. Sounds like if I go through that much work i better be buying new leather and do the job once. When I changed the carpet I was going to try to swap the whole seat, but the lever to recline the back would have been on the wrong side
Jake, Good question! My driver seat doesnt recline (powered), but my pass. seat does. If anyone can confirm this.....would save me from having to drive horizontal.
I haven't done it yet, but have seen this answered here before. They are interchangable, though if it is just for wear, you can switch just the cushions.
I have the standard seats in my 91. Both cushions were interchangeable, but the seat frames and rails were not. I just exchanged the cushions side to side when the driver's side bolsters starting showing a little wear.

I have the power drivers seat in my 86. It does recline, the lever is at the very front left corner of the seat. It's kind of like a slider, not like a regular lever on other cars. The seat won't recline as far as I'd like, but it does recline some.
Jake, I have swapped both bottoms and back cushions, however the seat pan is different as the recline controls are on opposite sides. That said, unless you're going to run the seat all the way forward, there should be enough room for the recliner controll on the insides. You can try it and see, pretty easy to remove the seats.

All this really confuses me!!!! I switched the entire seats from driver to passenger (On 93 vette) So, now the worn driver bolsters are on the inside of the car. Basically, can be seen unless you are directly looking for it.
I must add, however, I do NOT have the fancy seats. They are power sliding, but dont have all the buttons there by your leg to adjust lumbar, etc etc.
I changed the entire seats in my '94. The seat are standard and the lever for the recline is now on the inside next to the console on both seats. It isn't a problem, you just have to remember that it is moved. They fit with no problems, but the seat feels a little different. Maybe because it is less worn that the original driver's seat.
