I just installed new weatherstripping on the car, and cannot seem to get the door panels to fit over the new pieces and still catch on the lip at the top edge of the doors. Any suggestions on this?
I recently had the same issue with reproduction weatherstrip made by Corvette Rubber Co. (most of the catalogs sell Corvette Rubber Co. weatherstrip). As I recall, it was a lot worse on the passenger side.
I just had to cut the weatherstrip so the door panels could sit down correctly. I installed the door panel as best I could, the marked the weatherstrip, removed the door panels, and started cutting with a sharp knife or razor blade. Took a few times to remove enough weatherstrip. If you take your time and mark it and don't just start hacking, it looks fine.
It wasn't too big a deal, but it'd be nice if they made stuff that fits!
