If you run the late model with the vacuum line and route the water pump weep hole water away they are indeed designed to last 150.000 miles with only a cap and rotor and rubber seal change.
The Vacuum line setup is not for moisture but for the ill effects of Ozone a corrosive made by the optical light process that sends the signal to the computer.
In fact there is no reason for the bearing to go bad in less than 240,000 miles.
Most failures in a short time are aftermarket or poor quality rebuilding.
Always replace the rubber seal cause rubber deteriorates with time and heat allowing water to enter.
I always put a little silicone around them just for insurance !
