Has anyone debadged the nose of their car? I'm looking for slight ways to set my car apart from others, i've seen some C5's and C6's with no front emblem that look pretty sweet but never seen that done on a C4. Anyone care to share pictures or thoughts?
The emblem on mine is getting pretty ratty. Looks like two 10MM nuts hold it on, then glue. I suppose we both could use some advice on how to pry it off.
there are nuts on the back and glue holding it on, just took mine off the other day. im just debating whether i want to fill in the wholes or spend the cash on new emblems as they arent cheap. with the way my car is sitting right now I cant tell if i would like it with out the emblems or not for the long term, guess no one else does either.
There was a thread a while back that had some photos of a airbrushed emblem. Saw one at Bloomington Gold this last year too - both were pretty nice IMO - I could see some elaboration on the concept and you would have indeed a unique car.
Your going to have to fill the holes and paint it anyway so this may be a nice fix and easier than paint matching the patched area.

I've read about "sawing" the glue off (between the emblem & hood) with fishing line (won't damage the paint). Project 79 in "101 Projects for Corvette 1984-1996" recommends the use of a hair dryer & plastic putty knife to deal with the adhesive.

The emblem has two "posts" that go thru the body. So fishing line will work for some of it but you still have to remove the two 10mm speednuts and deal with the two holes. The big chunks of adhesive can be removed with mineral spirits, acetone, or even WD-40. Something like "Goof-off" will remove the final traces of residue.
While heat from a heat gun will help, there is no way I would use a tool like a plastic putty knife. It would be too east scratch the paint or dig gouges into the paint if the hardened adhesive was pushed by the tool. Keep in mind that for the most part, C4's may have original paint and the adhesive material under the badge will have hardened.
I plan on smoothing mine out. For now though, I have a modified C5 emblem.
I also removed the gas lid emblem and will smooth it out when the car get's repainted. Since no one else has said it, "Badges, badges, we don't need no stinkin' badges."

I'm thinking of removing mine as well. The PO replaced the stock, black emblems with the silver 40th Ann. ones. and I may want to go back to the black ones. Also, there is a small burr at the edge of the flag on the front that has caught and destroyed more polishing cloths than I can count.

I thought I'd respond to the original posters question as it was asked.
Yes, I have done it. And I feel it looks much better this way. The emblems are added by marketing, and distract from the original smooth form created by the designers. I also deleted the rear "corvette" script as I feel it is too chunky. The emblem on the fuel filler lid is next to go, including the finger grip depression to smooth it out. I'll add a hidden lid lifter device above the rear plate.
I intend to do the front delete on my 73 as well.
Oh, and one more detail. I used red reflective "corvette" inserts in the front tag cover. Against the black car it looks perfect.
I was going to show some pics but apparently I can't without giving out a credit card number (which isn't going to happen), so you'll have to use your imagination. It does look cool!
