Default Guidance on cleaning engine

With all the sensors and electronics on the motor, what is the best way to clean/degrease the engine?

if you've got an LT1, don't get water anywhere near the Optispark distributor. A search on this forum will bring up more posts than you'll care to see about this topic.

There are hundreds of threads and posts on this subject and everyone has an opinion or way to do it.

Apply degreaser or simple green.

I hose the engine bay down. Do not hose the opti, ECM, wire harness or connections with the hose. Blow the water off with a leaf blower.

Then use armor all

Theres a whole forum dedicated to Car Care/Detailing here at CF. I just asked the same question. Got some real pros over there. Check em out. You hafta go to the forum button up top of this page, select "main" then scroll thru the generation specific stuff to the bottom. Some forums there some folks dont know about I think, lol.

It looks like you have been told this but I was told DO NOT GET WATER NEAR THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE!!!! Their is some sensor there that HATES any amount of water. Id let a dealer do it. They know and if they screw it up they will have to fix it! I know many here are anti dealer but I have learned they are about the only ones you can count on to get it done. Even it takes 1000 times!

The dealers do it all the time. They clean them on all their used cars to sell them. They also have to do it sometimes to see where leaks could be.
