I enjoy a spirited “display of acceleration” like the next guy.:D On the street, there are too many variables that are out of your control. If you are going to race on the street, make sure you know the RISK. Be safe out there and remember you don’t NEED to whip EVERY car that throws a rev at you (even though they may deserve it).
Right, there is a time and place for everything, if you feel you must street race, better make sure nobody else is on the road, and where there are no side streets, I've seen too many and heard too many cases where a car pulss out of a side street only to be rear ended or crash head on with an idiot who was street racing.
Totally agree. I just dont get the poeple that want to race me in downtown san jose, I mean WTF are they thinking, a time and place for everything, random races at stoplights I usually never do.
Everything has its place even if happens to be on the street. But you must be responsible for your actions and able to face the consequences. The accident that happened in Birmingham was in my home town. I have had several races on I-65 in Birmingham because of the fact that it is 3-7 lanes wide in some areas and traffic is easily avoidable. Its unfortunate that many who race on the street are not capable of handling there cars at high rates of speed nor have the reflexses to bring an out of control car back under control. Just my .02.

The scariest part of street racing is that most likly, you have no idea of the skill or lack there of, of your competition. I don't think it's too bright to race on public roads.
That last one was terrible, purposely slamming your brakes on, cutting someone off and causing them to crash. The person that does that to me would get a nasty surprise, I don't like that game and I will hit you so hard you will most likely never want to drive again. Man I can't imagine someone that retarted that they would take anothers life cause they flashed their lights. :mad :mad :mad
I grew up street racing in Detroit in the late 70's early 80's. It usually was well organized and was one of the best times of my life. We had various areas where we would go, away from the general population and the police generally looked the other way. At times there where as many as 500 people there depending on who was racing and for how much. If there was a crash(rarely) the only person you hurt was your self. I dont agree with racing on regular traveled streets, someone innocent will get hurt.
Here's my $.02. Under some (pretty unusual circumstances) a full let out through third gear red line, is marginally okay, but under normal circumstances (consisting of clear road ahead, and no opportunities for some citizen to pull out in front of you, anything beyond lighting it up at full tilt through second gear (to about six grand) is getting pretty dicey.Cire96
In case no one has noticed. You can also die and take someone out with you at the track. Just shows you that flat out racing on the street, there is a better chance that something will go wrong.
That is one of the reasons why I am going to start to go to the track more. I have been racing on the street for years, and have lost a friend to it when his car went into the median and crashed into the wall and burst into flames. I trust my driving, but there are more people on the roads than just myself. I have gotten past that stage in my life where I think I am indestructable, once you get old enough you realize this. Then you wise up and try to pass this knowledge onto others.
