Default Water Pump Question

I've read that the 84-92 Corvettes use a short style water pump and still have a serpentine belt setup. Now, I own an 87 Camaro and I need some more room between the accesories and the radiator so I was wondering if using the corvette setup would give the extra room I need.

From what I've read, the short water pumps stick out ~1" less from the block then the long water pumps. Now, is that ~1" difference still there when the pulley is installed? Can someone post some pictures of the accesories on a 84-92 Corvette so I can see how it looks? If you can hold a ruler or tape measure perpendicular to the block near the water pump pulley so I can see how far it sticks out that would be great. If you have a side by side comparision shot of the long and short water pumps with serpentine pulleys installed, that would be even better!

Depending on what I find out, I may be in the market for the crankshaft and water pump pulleys... maybe the alternator and power steering pulleys too if my curent pulleys wont work.

Thanks,
Mike
