Aight. Once again i am calling upon the C4 gods for help. I plan to completely redo the interior of my 93. While I love the red carpeting, time and use is starting to get the best of it. I mainly want to focus on the seat (I have an idea but dont know whether to replace or cover them), the dash, paneling, and THE CARPET. Im lookin for replacement carpet and any either good ideas, tip, leads, or warnings anybody has. Im an open book on this one so fire away. Kinda want to start pullin together all the details while im overseas. Look forward to seeing what you guys come up with.
The 93, I found a complete interior on ebay for $700.
The 95 I bought everything brand new, mostly from Corvette America.
The door panels I had to send back, but other than that, everything was great.
You can get seat covers from Al Knoch and save some money over what I spent.
One thing to consider is to sound deaden the interior while you have the rugs out of the car. Rammat is a forum member and can fix you up w/ what you need. Go to the Audio section and do a search, you'll find lots of good info.
Wilcox is having a sale on carpet , its cheaper now then last year when I bought it for my 89 coupe..I also bought new seats from Wilcox, I got the black set called (Drivers leather seats) for about $750.00 which includes new foam and the covers are already mounted, all you have to do is snap them in..I can't see any difference in the quality of the leather between these seats and the regular leather seats ,but they are much cheaper...WW
1. I just took my seats to a car upholsty person and he made me new seat covers to replace my old ones for $350 and they are customed to how i wanted them
Note i saved 50 dollars by bringing the fabric i wanted myself.
2. carpets are a fun subject. I decided that my burgendy red carpets werent going to match my black and green 85 so me and my father decided why not just dye them with fabric dye.... NOT A GOOD IDEA lol. my hands were stained for 2 weeks cause the black doesnt sink into this carpet. so best bet is to just buy a new set. i got mine for like $500 off ebay all brand new with mass backing.
3. interior panels, this is what made the major differnece in my 85. I took everything plastic out except for a few parts of the dash. Than i cleaned them all up and tack clothed them. Then i just put some adheasion promoter on them and painted them with the paint i was useing for the outside of my car (including gloss)... <-- this is what really made the interior transformation for me.
4. Seat belts ive been expirmenting with. I got some flexibile fabric paint and i was putting it on my seat belts and it seems not to flake or anything like that but the only problem im having with it is the seat belts dont like to go back in comepletly sometimes.
5. also its a long shot but check your junkyards in your area. i happened to find 2 out of 10 junkyards in orlando with decent door panels. I didnt need them so i passed but just take a shot at it.

Reason: forgot number 5
I have done upholstery on collector cars for the last 25 years, so I may look at interiors a little differently than most people do. Almost every car I have seen pictures of with the seats done from a kit looked terrible. To look good a seat cover has to be tight. If it is tight, people without the knowledge of the techniques used to install covers cannot do it properly. Most kit covers are made a little loose so they can be installed by the average owner without getting ripped during installation. Therefore they will have wrinkles, pulls etc. Even a cover that is perfectly made will look bad unless the person installing it knows how to do it right. I would recommend having a good upholstery shop redo your seats. It may cost a little more but it will look much better. For carpets and door panels go with the stuff you can buy and install yourself. They should look great. But not the seats.
I actually am doing a two-tone red and black for my seats as well. Red bolsters with a black center on the seat. Then Im gonna do a custom 40th anniversary emblem embroidered in the headrest.
Btw, I seriously considered typing this at parade rest for ya sgt. Specialist Womac. Im actually playin in the sand box right now. Nice to see some army pride. Stay hooah.

The biggest issues I have are how to spice up the carpet. I dont necessarily object to the all red theme. But I want to do the generic red and black theme to the extreme on my car. So the carpet is a design headache. Plus I would really like to do something to the dash and center console. But that seems kind of like a dead end at this point.

tell you what I was thinking for me.
I was thinking about going with the traditional red carpet, which mine is still excellent. But get some new black mats with a red logo or red stitching. Same thing in the cargo area.
I saw them somewhere at ecklers or Mid America, or corvette central. One of those places.
On the dash I will leave alone unless I go with a protectective mat in red, which my dash of course is black. but what I did do was put a red/black retro leather cover on the steering wheel to bring some red up to the dash. looks excellent actually and it did bring the red up.
When I get it done I will post some pictures but that is going to be a few months. winter coming on and all. gets cold in the garage
can you give us some insider tips then on how to recover our seats !!!
i'm in the UK and as soon as you say the word corvette the price goes up and up !! then there is a big intake of breath and they add a few more £££££
so i'm ordering new foam and some leather seat covers and will try and do it myself so any tip would be great !!
I think that both Mid-America and Eckler's offer a complete set of seat bases and back with new foam and the covers already installed on the foam. All you have to do when you get them is to attach them to the seat frame.
Al Knoch is another good source for interior components like seats and carpeting. Most of the accessory catalogs get their items from Al Knoch.
With the covers installed on the foam, it takes all the work out of it and insures that the covers are smooth, tight, and the seams aligned properly. The two vendors should be able to accept your order and send them to you. Mid-America will accept international online orders but you are responsible for duty and taxes.
Seat Leather is from Corvette America on 1992 Sport seats, Carpet is Torch red and Black from 94-96 cars (pieced together) Cargo floor in 1st pic is 1990 carpet in black, in pic with amp the whole floor/back is redone and 3 pieces. Floors and wall behind seats is black, Console and Door Sills are Red with Black seat belts.
My old 89 was flame red, then I switched to all black except the seats and Door panels.. While I like Black, on my black car it was too much, so I did the mod red seats then the inverse pattern on the carpet
Jeffs seat are just about exactly what i want to do to mine just reversed. Looks killer man.
And i have a while to acquire the parts so I can shop around and make sure I get just what I want. That way I have somethin to do on leave in a few months lol.

that's something similar to what I am talking about except just going with the back mat. I already have the red black but's a little strong on the red part so I want to add some more black.
get you a red black leather steering wheel cover, that would look excellent.
