Default 86 EGR Temp Switch?

I need to replace my EGR pipe due to it being cracked. I'm having trouble finding any info on this process. I have purchased a new pipe, valve, and crimp ring, but can't find any sources for buying the temp switch, (everyone seems to be discontinued). Is there any other options for this switch? And what type of pliers are needed for the crimp ring? thanks!

I have a switch in good shape. The original went bad and I replace it. I used it about a year then change to a miniram.

Found these are also used on many 1986-88 GM such as Astro, Safari, Bonneville, T-1000, etc. Combed the junkyard today and found one!

If you look at the part# on the ebay page, it says ETS2. I believe thats a "Standard" brand part number. The correct part number for an 86 vette is ETS1.

Has anyone done any kind of mod to eliminate, or re-route that pipe? What a ridiculous place for the factory to put it. I had a hell of a time getting the valve cover off with that thing on there

Lucky you. I ended up removing the crimp ring to move the egr tube out of the way to remove the valve cover. What a mistake that was. It was nearly impossible to get a new crimp ring back on there and compress it properly. It wasnt until i changed my evaporator core and I had the evaporator core case apart, that i had enough room to properly squeeze that ring down tight.

You can change to the later exhaust manifold that uses the bolt on egr pipe. Good luck finding the pipe as some feel that they are made of gold and rarer than a C4...

i had this problem a few months ago when I needed this part for my 85. I found a list on Rock Auto of all the cars that switch fits and when hunting. I found one in a local parts store for $15. Corvette Mike has them used and there is a supplier on ebay that has bought surplus switches, but I dont know if he still has them. Good luck!
