Default Fire Extinguishers

I thought I had seen a thread or picture here at one time or another about a direct fit fire extinguisher mount/bracket for C4's. If I recall, it attached directly to the front of the passenger seat track. I just looked in the newest MAM catalog and didn't see anything. Anybody have one or know where to get one?

I don't think that one will work. Looks like its a strap to hold the extinguisher.
Maybe someone can chime in from them.

Measure between the mounts on the outside of each. Get a piece of scrap metal a few inches wide that length, have them narrow where the strap would connect to the seat mounts. Drill holes for seat mounts, metal fire ext strap from youre fire ext. Screw it all together and you are done.

OBTW - Several places have the fire extinguishers with the metal straps and gages for less than $100.

I was NOT going to pay $110 for some piece of metal to go between the seat mounts and another $110+ for an extinguisher that was no better than the $80 I spent on my installation of an "off the shelf" extinguisher and a fabbed strap between the seat mounts.

Does everyone carry the halon extinguishers or dry chemical because of the price? I know dry chemical can be a mess.

Halon is not available anymore due to environmental issues. You're stuck with either dry chemical or CO2.

A Halon fire extinguisher saved my car. After putting out a fire under the hood, all I had to do was rewire with no other cleanup.

Do a google search - they are worth the extra $$$$.

PS: The fire was caused by a rag falling down in the front of the engine and touching the headers. Not the smartest thing to do.

I have one in my 85. The bracket is from Brey-Krause:
http://www.bkauto.com/corvette/r2110.php
And the Fire Extinguisher from Safecraft or others:
http://www.safecraft.com/product_pag...ductSubCatID=9
I have purchased several of them from these guys who carry both lines and have always treated me good:
http://www.lpiracing.com/livper/index.html
I mounted mine in front of the drivers seat so it would easily be in reach but I think it mounts to the passenger seat just the same.

I've got a Halon on a bracket on a harness bar. The harness bar came from Arizona Speed and Marine and the Halon came from Summit Racing.

Thanks for correcting me. I had just assumed that it wasn't available anywhere anymore. (Canada banned it about 10 years ago.) Next time I cross the border, I'll be sure to pick one up.

In view of Shiner2001,s misfortune, I did a search on fire extinguishers and came up with this old thread. Figured it might be appropriate to re-open it.

Anybody got a nice, neat permanent mount for theirs they can post pix here? I'd hate to just leave one rolling around in the back....not saying for sure I'm going to do it but seeing photos of that Vette flambe sure makes you stop and think!

I have mine ready to go, need some ideas for mounting.

Pics would be GREAT.

Not the greatest pic, but mine is just bolted to the floorboard. IMO there is no need for a "Corvette specific" bracket. Mine isn't going anywhere and it is easy to get to if I need it.

When I get some extra $$ I'm going for a full on permanent halon system.
