Default C-4 top differences

I understand 3 styles of top were used on a C-4 coupe; 84 to E86, L86 to 88 and 89 on.

Does anyone know what the differences are? Is it distance on front attachment or something more. Any one know a website that explains the differences?

Thanks,

No the hardware is different as you can see the shape and the offset is slightly off. I am unaware if you can simply remove the hardware from one to the other although the panel itself is identical. I do know however that and 89 top will fit all MYs C4 from 89-96 and vice versa.

See the above post even better pics of those brackets so you can clearly see the differences. GC

I also know that the 89 and up top will fit the 86l-88. You have to buy the front mounts for the car as well as a the trim piece. then you can swap the mounts to match the targa. There used to be a kit now you have to go to a vette recycler for these parts or fleabay

Hi !
If I understand correctly, for my 84-86E, if I want to put on a post-1989 t-top, I will have to:
- change the front mounting brackets above the windshield.
- modify the front upper windshield trim panel, that is to say, drill 2 new holes for the new spacing of the roof fixing screws, correct ?

But if I always own the original roof, can I just remove the mouting brackets that were on my old roof and install them on the new one ? If it’s possible ? I presume no... but i wonder

Thanks !
