hiatus

The ol '86 second gear is slipping pretty bad now.......I almost was rear ended on the freeway. A normal maneuver that I had performed countless times, almost left me taking a dirt nap.
I was evaluating it with the hood open, and coolant was openly leaving the confines of the engine at the rear of the intake manifold, bubbling and gurgling slowly, then dripping off the back of the block....another time related gasket deterioration.
nothing wrong with the engine that a little time and some inexpensive gaskets wouldn't heal, but I have been planning this for a number of years now. After all, it's just about 25 years old, and going strong, but it's probably time to do freeze plugs and gaskets, maybe a cam change......after all, the oil pressure is 50 PSI at idle.... and no smoke or oil burning.
It's time for a change.
Engine change........trans change.........
I have an 89 corvette engine that's been bored and honed, and the crank turned .010-.010, and the pistons and crank are installed. I need to buy a cam.
I need to finish the engine, and get the 92 trans ready to install.
I washed it and put a cover over it, and there it sits, waiting for me to quietly take it apart, in anticipation of some new life in it.
I can't wait.......
It's an after Christmas event, and I'm not looking forward to the back aches it will foster, but I am anxiously waiting to mash the go pedal once more.....
