How does the aftermarket coverplate that goes over the information display stay on without falling off?

It squeezes in there. Mine lasted a couple of years then just kept falling out. Should have taken it out sooner anyway. Never did care for it myself.

Mine had a piece of velcro on it, this helped put some tension on it to stay in place.

I was considering making one for myself. Not a big fan of the ones they sell at midamerica and everywhere else. Not to mention the price shipped is around $40. Not worth the money, but could be a fun project. transparent smoked plexiglas is fairly cheap.

Anyone know/or give an estimate on how thick the info coverplates are? 1/8th an inch?

I don't have mine anymore or I would measure. From memory they were a little thicker then 1/8", more like 3/16". I don't think they were 1/4". But you can make them whatever thickness you would like. The center one wasn't so thick it was flush with the rest of the panel on my year.

I thought the material scratched to easy. That didn't matter for the DIC cover but the center console cover got scratched from setting things there. Here's a pic, it shows the plate not flush for the DIC cover.

The center console plate was flush though.

I have both but the console plate does dress up the console instead of seeing the hole. The thickness of my plate is about a 1/8" (dash plate that is).

Yeah, my bro's '87 had it. It's previous owner put one in. The velcro piece is actually on the edges, and the thing fits in and hopefull stays in via friction.

My 91 just seems like something needs to be there to cover it.....just seems like something is missing.
