Non taken.I just wanted to know what people have to say about these one off cars, not much. The Snake Skinners,2 I think were white 89 ZR-1s.These cars costing $140,000+ are Corvette history, nothing less.Anybody that cant understand why these cars are going for this type of money, you never will.I have to agree here,B-J is a scam and a joke. What was at one time a reputable auction house is now a scam. The only people here making money are Craig Jackson, his partner and the moron in the shades. There is at least one 89 ZR-1 coming up for auction,I guess some of you wont see the money in this either.By the way,I do know a little about Corvettes.[IMG][/IMG]
Starts at 4pm pacific on the speed channel. Its kind a cool to monitor the auction at the speed tv website and on the tv. The speed channel doesnt go to long commercial breaks like the tv does.

Hey Jeff since your already a Z owner, whats your thoughts on the 89 proto vette? Im surprised its selling on tuesday. I thought they would have saved it for prime time, like friday or saterday.

I think it will go for maybe $100,000.Mike,you want some interesting reading checkout the Prototype thread in the ZR-1 section...................Blew that one right out of the water.
Looks like this one will take some work. The one last year sold for 100K, however it was MSO and in great shape. This one is salvage and is repainted, missing parts, etc...front wheels are not a problem though. I'd guess closer to 60K
I try to go every year and look at all the cars for ideas and inspiration.
Last year all the GM cars were out in droves.
Especially a standard corvette with a LT-5 ZR-1 drivetrain.......
a Chevy station wagon with a LT-5, and various cars with L98's and LT-1's that never came with them.
Went for 55k. They didnt play the zr1 on the tv feed. Didnt catch any details about the car.
There weren't many details with it... It was in pretty rough shape, had c6 wheels on the front. Didn't run, and wasn't anything like the cars last year.
STEAL OF THE DAY was a '95 Corvette Pace Car with something like 2200 original miles from Ressler. Absolutely perfect in every way. Car was sold for.... $23,000!!! I would've traded my Z06 for this car in a heartbeat....
Yea I love this week of car auctioning. I also have to put aside everything, even woman. I can watch this for hours its just fun to watch. I wish they did it more often. I'm not really into the Mecum auto auction but I watch it just to get my fix.

I was able to see in person the all Corvette auction Mecum did at BG last year, and will be going again this year.
I only wish they didn't have the reserves on the cars as it is pretty much a "no brainer" that once the reserve is off the price stops going up, and it is sold. I wonder/think some of the reserves are just people wanting to show off their cars, and not really wanting to sell them unless they get an unrealistic high price for their car. (not all, but most seem to be that way IMO)
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
