odometer question-86
Is there a way to tell if the odometer has been tampered with. I am just curious. I have an 86 with 75k on it but the wear and tear seemed like 175k. I replaced whole interior. I know the car is 24 years old so it just may not have been well cared for. When I replaced my digital gauge cluster it was so easy to swap the odometer so I am guessing that it is possible to tamper with it. Thanks

I reset mine to zero after restoring the drivetrain and suspension.
Also tagged the door jam with the original miles before the adjustment.

I can't remember where I read this but I recall someone saying that if the odometer has been tampered with the lines in between the numbers would be silver not black. I never heard this before or again and I don't see how it's possible but just wondering if anyone else has heard of any tell tale signs of tampering. Luckily, I have a pretty good history of my car and the carfax supports the mileage so I am inclined to believe it but the po's sure didn't take good care of it. It's all good now though. Thanks for the input guys.
