Default Weekend adventures

The Forum seems to have slowed a little the past couple days so I thought I would just post up how my weekend went.

Friday: Got off work and went by Oreilly to replace my IAC, that I purchased the day before, because they gave me the wrong one. I had called them Thursday night and they ordered a new one.

I take it out of the box and hand it back to them and tell them I already have this IAC and it's not the correct one. I was told they were sending the one up from Jefferson City because we already verified that it was the correct one. Uh, wait a minute I will be back. Came back with the correct one and I left and went home. I didn't install it until Saturday.

Saturday: Got up and drove, the STS, to northern Missouri to check on my brother, who is not in the best of health, and to check on my Camper that is hooked up on my childhood friend's farm. All went well and I left to come home around 2 and arrived home about 4 PM. (listened to Missouri spank OK State on the radio)

Got home and installed the IAC and reset it. The car started up so quickly it dang near scared me!! Idled perfectly. problem solved. Then went for a spirited drive of about 30 minutes. Came home, all is well so I put him back to sleep. Had some adult beverages and bragged to my wife what a great Mechanic I am!! (not really but hey I was happy to get the problem taken care of)

Sunday: Got on the forum and spouted my usual nonsense and then did a search on Seafoam. Found a good write up, on an F body forum, so I decided what the heck. Since I am having a fuel issue as well I thought I would go ahead and Seafoam my fuel system just for giggles and what if's. Went to the Gas Station and filled up with 91 and put the Seafoam in. Then decided to go for another spirited drive, as is recommended, and drove to Macon, Mo which is about a 100 mile round trip.

Set the cruise on 90 (not really just seeing if you are still reading) 70 and turned on the Alpine. First pat Green, then on to ZZ Top and arriving back home it was Sammy Hagar. Yep, you know the tune.

I saw one blue C5 on the trip up and then one C4 on the trip home. I barely caught the C4, due to hills and curves on the section of interstate, but it was black and appeared to have a body kit of some sort and a spoiler like I have never seen. This thing was at least a foot high. I couldn't get a good look as I said but it looked a little odd from a quick glance. My first reaction was WTF was that!!

The actual highlight of the trip was when a mother and her, I'm guessing, son who appeared to be about 10 or 12 passed me and the kid followed the vette with his eyes and wearing a big smile until he couldn't see me anymore.

He was definitely star struck.

Went home and called it a day. What did you all do?

Actually I'm a little ashamed to say I forgot the best and the worst part of Mike's Excellent Adventure!

I stopped by the Jacksonville Veterans Cemetary on the way home, just to pay my respects. It is really a wonderful place. That is where I took the pictures that are in my profile page.

I can't tell yet. I only used a little over a quarter of tank of gas. But I will say this.. Since installing the IAC and putting the Seafoam in I was averaging over 22 MPG. I have never gotten 22 MPG even on the freeway since I have owned it the last two years. It seems like it is starting to stumble around a little bit but I have read that is normal due to gunk getting picked up and moved around. But it runs fine going down the highway!

I'll share...

Had some friends over that "we" don't see very often in the winter.
I was beat into submission to let my buddy drive my "new to me' 91 vert.
So we set off early before consuming any "adult" beverages.
He's short and heavy, I'm tall and skinny. I cringed at hearing the power seat motors strain from the weight and cold. He took off a little too fast for my tastes, breaking the rear wheels loose, easy to do with cold tires and near freezing temps outside.
I have straight pipes from the cats back, so I have a mean sounding rumble, I like it, I'd consider putting some muffs on her if I drove her more than weekends...we'll see how loud she is with the top down this spring.
I was kinda shocked at how little "feet" room there is on the pass. side. I could barely put both feet up there in that tiny little space...lol. It was cool to be a passenger though...although I'm thinking that'll be the last time.
She drove great, we had a good time, and I put her too bed, pulled the blanket over her and gave her a soft kiss goodnight.

My wife complains about the footroom everytime she's in it. What do you do.

Well, no Corvette driving for me over the weekend.
Not sure exactly where in Missouri your at, but I take it you didn't have any snow?

Saturday morning, we woke up to about 7 - 8 inches of snow.
So, I spent a few hours out shoveling the drive and generally playing with the dog. Black lab mix that loves to play in snow.

Saturday afternoon warmed up, but with the roads being messy we just left the Vette in the garage.
We took the truck and drove to Lebanon. Stopped at the HD dealer to look around, and then went out to dinner.

Sunday, I sat around and did nothing all day.
Well, I was on the computer most of the day planing the upcoming Power Tour trip.

Sat out in the garage and looked at my vette that broke down the weekend before. Had to bring it home on a flat bed, that is something you just want to see. Well stuff happens so get it fixed and move on and things will be better another day. The weather has been so crappy this week I wasn't going to drive it anyway. I was going to have it taken to my mechanic but after posting in Tech I deiced to pick up ICM and Coil and put those in first.

Friday and Saturday are my days off.....

Friday just worked around the house.

Saturday went and had lunch with our group of Corvette / Fiero owners (Men of a Certain Age) LOL. Got my new Mustang seat in for my motorcycle and installed it.....which lead to the bike getting detailed, which blew most of Saturday.

Quiet weekend. We've been meaning to go to Santa Fe for the last three weeks, but they keep getting snow up there.

I live in Harrisburg, it's about 12 miles north of Columbia. they were originally calling for snow but it all went south. You guys get hit a lot more than we do.

it was 39 and sunny here. Had to get out the to keep the sun down to a small glimmer. It was great. the week before it rained so most of the salt and crud was off the road.

Did not get to drive this weekend because the vette was in the shop. It has a leak. It set for two seeks and the guy finally got to it and could not find a leak. So he drove it around put it back on th lift and could not find a leak. Hmmmmm I dive it home last night and let ir set overnight. Moved it this afetrnoon and guess what I find? You got Trany fluid. Not much but enough to get under my skin. I hate vehicles that leak (pet peeve).

Saturday, seeing how I could not drive I went out cand check my pig trap sites. I will be setting up 3 of them this coming weekend. We are overrun with wild pigs and they pay me to kill them.

Sunday a high school friend came by. After giving her a ride in my vett back in October she wants a vette. A member of our Corvette Club is selling his red on black 2001 with 101k on the od for 15K. So we went to look at it and low an behold the targa was all messed up. he for got to latch the thing down and he was hauling a_ _ and the top flew off LOL. She asked me what I thought as we were driving home and I told her I would not buy it. There are better cars on the market.

Sat & Sun, long story short.

Pulled the frisbee off the '90.

Serviced the air bag sensors, mountings & connectors. extinguished the INFL reset light, got it turned off on the 3rd try.

Was there any noticable difference after pulling the frisbe? I have been thinking of taking mine off.
