Default Stock chip

When I bought my 93 LT1, it came with a hypertech chip in it and a 160 thermostat. I would like to put a stock chip back in and get another thermostat. What and where can I get these.

The chip and thermostat you have are not going to hurt your car. A lot of guys would not spend the money for the two items, but you already have them.

The chip and thermostat are making the car need to be driven hard. When I need to drive mellow it runs like crap.

I believe that your Hypertech is a "piggyback" type...meaning your stock prom is mated to the Hypertech. Therefore your stock chip (prom) is there within the ECM. Check the Hypertech website to verify.

There are several proms for your car.....they are specific to transmission and gear ratios. Check your RPO codes for the correct application.

Tran............Ratio..........RPO...... ..Code
Man........... 6sp.......... ML9........1692AZUM
Auto............3.07 ..........G44 .......1698AZUN
Auto.............2.73 .........GU2........ 1707AZUR
Auto ............2.59 .........GM1 ........1702AZUP

So I pulled the chip off today and decided to go for a quick test drive and it runs great, so great I blew past a cop and got pulled over. No tickets, just a comment about the expired inpection sticker. Now I just have to get a thermostat. What temp should I get?

I'm running a stock thermostat in my '91 w/Hypertech chip. There is a lot of information on this subject, do a search on thermostat.

With the chip in my temps never went over 200 degrees. I wonder how high they will go now. I think I will go with a 195 degree thermostat and see how it works. What temp is the stock thermostat?
