this has been an ongoing topic here on the forum so i just thought i'd share this piece of info.
you know how certain places in north america require that we have a front plate? well that means we got to get rid of our gorgeous front license cover that says corvette. well a few of the BC Corvette Club members have done this to still keep their front cover yet not get tickets written to them by the bundle by still keeping their front license plate somewhere that doesn't ruin the overall look of the car...... check out the pics below notice the license plates are on the middle of the front spoiler?
hope this helps anyone
now if i can only find a front cover plate for my car thats not totally expensive and i can do this too.
That's not too bad. I wonder how it holds up to curbs and driveways...
well i dunno how it would hold up but i'm sure it'd still be ok there
i can see in the second pic i posted that that license plate sure has been mangled yet on the red vert you can see its doing great. so i guess it all depends on where you drive.
I have my front plate installed but it's under the cover. I had to mount the plate upwards a little bit so the cover fitted flush. It's held on with velcro and it hasn't fallen off. If I park in a ticketed area or a cop infested city (I know these spots) I'll remove the cover. It looks so much better with no front plate so it's worth the hassle.
i don't see how it restricts airflow its not like its in the way of the opening to the airfilter. .
Looks like it would restrict air flow to the radiator. As you know it doesn't take much to have these cars overheat. Corvette's front lower air dams are constructed to alow air to sweep up into the radiator.
I am still resistant to any front plate on a vette....I just don't think it looks good. Guess I will have to take the ticket if it comes to that!! They have a bill going thru this summer that will hopefully eliminate front plates in VA...hope it passes!!
