Default Cutting the air box

I am sure some where here there is instruction and pictures on how to make the cuts in the air box for more air on a 95. Can't seem to find it. Thanks

Is there any evidence to show that it really works? I might do it if I knew it wasn't just a waste of time.

There is a pic of a stock air filter on this board that shows the front of the air filter. It is dirty in the areas directly behind the louver openings, the rest of the filter is relatively clean.

You already cut the lid?

I though about butchering up my stocker all over the place too, but I don't think it will help any.

Yes there is a thread where a guy made cut outs all over the box.

Just cut around the vents on the lid, so there is a huge hole. I did mine in 5 minutes with a cut off wheel.

Not really, you might hear more sucking when the hood is open, but no real difference. remember it only removes the vents. If you look at the housing it self, on my 90" at least, there are 2 little holes that the air goes through, so maybe cout out the inside of the box, where the tub connects to the TB.

I did hear a major difference in the Ram air unit I installed. Even driving at higher RPM's I can hear it swooshing when I punch it.

Just tape off the area you want to remove and use a jig saw follow the tape lines for a even cut
The other thing you can do is remove the black paint from the lid and sand and polish it. It's aluminum looks good after you are done.

I wanted to be able to go back to the stock box for shows, so I bought the BPP lid with the K&N replacement from Mid America (PN 603-962). That article was right, it was a bear to put on. I finally ended up using a thinner foam and that worked fine.

I have a '95 auto, too, and do not really notice that much of a difference. 3 BHP sounds about right. I do not notice a difference in sound. I also do not notice a dirt pattern on the filter.

I do make the change to the open box after the show, so I do think it helps with the larger MAS, and air foil.
