Is it possible to syphon coolant from the radiator to avoid the usual
method ie: bottom hose, etc.? All I want to do is replace the thermostat. Sure would be a lot easier and less messy. Thanks

Donne, the easy/best way is to disconnect the bottom radiator hose.
Its an excuse to do a coolant system flush and fresh refill.
Could do but what is wrong with using the radiator drain plug located underneath the bottom hose?
The last time, with a pair of plyers, I tried the drain plug, pieces broke off. I ended up diconnecting the bottom hose. I just thought maybe I
could avoid that this time. I'll try the plug again. Thanks.
