I understand that leaving Brake Dust on the Wheels is detrimental to the Clear Coat.1) Are Ceramic pads better than Metallic ones for preventing this and 2) will a coat of Wax help retard this problem. Is there any specific product for this application?
Yes wax will help. I've been tracking my car with a variety of pads. I've found that the clear coat is fine! Although metallic type pads leave dust that is more difficult to remove. I've found that Carbo Tech pads work well and the dust cleans up nice. They offer a forum discount as well.
Yes it does. I had some chrome Eagle wheels on my Impala and after four months they were pitted from the brake dust. That is not covered under their warranty. (My last set of Eagles.) I thought that it was just crazy that brake dust can hurt wheels. They do live pretty close to each other and they work in tandem. That's as bad as saying that rain will pit a windshield. It makes no sense to me. From now on only polished aluminum.
Polished aluminum is also susceptible to pitting and corrosion from brake dust. Just check out some of the blinged out motorcycles with polished wheels... Just saying...
I guess the answer is to not let it stay on for any length of time. Maybe clean them once a week and apply wax.I do think Ceramic is better than the cheaper OEM metalic type Pads.No metal in ceramics Less apt to carrode I would think.
Every time I have seen Dennis' cars, you could eat off the finish! Made me feel real good when I finally let him see my dirty ol bashed up Redneck Red Sled Cant wait for pollen season, I love the yellow film, it goes great with bright red.

Steve...WWaayy too kind..You havn't seen them lately...LOL
Your Red Sled is very nice.
I did think of a good way to help the Brake dust situation. I just cleaned my Sawblades with Meguirs Detail Mist. Works great and leaves a waxy film to help retard the dust from sticking.
