You will find many different opinions on this one.
I personally try to take the following precautions with all my cars.
Keep it clean
Keep it waxed and polished
Keep it out of the sun and elements when not driving it
You will get varying opinions on products as well but I generally use Meguiars products. They aren't the cheapest but they aren't expensive either. I use the 3 step method. Well maybe 4 step. (clean of course) but Cleaner/wax, polish, wax. Use a clay bar once a year to get the stuff your eye can't or won't detect but your hand can feel.
I did see a black C4 here the other day that used Zaino products and looked better than it did when new. A lot guys swear by Zaino but it is more expensive!

I'm with Sarge, I generally use the Meguires products as well. Relatively inexpensive and you can find it anywhere...oh yeah, my vette's black too. Welcome to the forum and congrats on the Vette! We really need to see some pics when you get it all shined up....
Can't say enough about thier products. I use a PC buffer with a mix of Revive Polish and Scratch an d Swirl remover followed by a light coat of Buttery Wax. Then just wipe down with thier Detail Spray. Pm me if you have any questions

As the owner of a black 93, do the following:
wash thoroughly
polish with a PC buffer
wax
keep the car in a hermetically sealed chamber. Keep it out of the sun. Keep it out of the rain. Never drive it.
Otherwise be preparred to spend at least one day a week cleaning/ waxing.
And posted on the interweb for the whole world to see and idolize....
To the OP.....keep it in the garage when you're not using it. Beyond that, any good quality car wax applied every three months or so should keep it looking nice. Use silicon grease on the weatherstripping or you'll regret it.

My 96 is almost impossible to keep clean. I wash and wax it, then go for a drive. When I get home the car is always dirty looking and I only drive it on dry roads. Black just shows the least amount of dirt. I love the looks of a black car but I don’t think I’ll ever buy another black car. I need to get it repainted this spring after a little mishap back in December. I’ll probably just keep it black but I’ve been thinking about getting it painted another color. Good luck on keeping yours clean.

I've had good luck with Zaino. First time it takes a bit of time but well worth it. Always wash it in the shade.
Rejex gives a nice shine also. I never tried it on a dark color but on silver, blue and gold it has done well. (those were not Corvettes, all Japanese things. My daily cars).
I literally was my car every 3 to 5 days... I know what I was in for with a black car. It get's waxed probably once or twice a month. Clay bar once every few months. It's a labor of love!
