I've seen that many of the vendors sell 50 series (3 chamber) flowmasters that are a direct-fit for 85-91 corvettes (with the elbow piece and the muffler hanger attachment). I'm considering buying flowmasters in the near future, but was more interested in the 40 series (2 chamber) mufflers. I haven't been able to find them in a direct-fit style for my 91. Has anyone seen these or do I have to buy a universal fit and fabricate it to fit?? Thanks, Tom
Tom, I had the 40 series, two chamber Flowmasters installed along with stainless steel tips. All parts welded, no clamps. I love the sound outside of the car. Inside, at low speed and RPM's, the resonance is very annoying to me. If it were a stick, it would sound even better outside. I like the look of the tips, only wish I had them just a bit farther inside. Hope this helps. :seeya
I have flowmaster 40 series mufflers on mine. Resonance is pretty annoying from 1200-2000rpm but I either shift around it or turn up the stereo. They sound wicked from the outside though!
So what have you heard as far as products that sound good outside but have a reasonble sound inside (i.e. the resonance is held to a minimum)? Is there such a product out there...is the 50 series quieter? Thanks.
The 50's sound pretty good with the CAT on. With the CAT off, it does resonate a little. I also like the Dynomax Ultraflows. I have one on my 2000 360 4x4 RAM and it sounds good.
Here are my flows with no cat. They were on the car when i bought it. I think they are the ones similar to those from ecklers. I hear that they are 50 series. check it out........... My flows!!
