I have both...use ramps for oil changes and quick stuff, 6 ton jack stands on all 4 corners if I'm gonna be under it for a while or need more clearance.
Still looking for a nice used Kwiklift....but everyone within 500 miles of me thinks their 8 year old Kwiklift is worth the same as a new one. The ones 2000 miles away, of course, are reasonably priced. Go figure.
I have been using jack stands for the car, but grew tired of it lately, so I was going to buy or build wider ones for these this car, because it is too low to drive up them, and tires are too wide to fit in the tray of them, but I cut some planks and put them in the middle of my ramps, so the tires have and even space to rest on. Now I jack the car up in the middle and put both ramps under it, and I can use the stands for the rear.
I've yet to find a set of ramps that you can buy that when you drive up on them... the car is high enough off the ground to really work under. You really have to make your own. So at this point unless your a rich guy ... or a tech like toptechx6 ... good quality jack stands are the way to go.
Mine is to low for ramps.
I can back it up on ramps tho as i do to clean the diff and everythign else every year.
But to get to the front of the car i have to drive in the dirt and dig a hole jack it up and put it on stands.
Yeah ima ReDneCk

Most performance car ramps get the cars wheels 8-12 inches off the ground. But they are expensive in most caes. I use the old metal ones with planks on them. My tires are more than a foot off the ground, and the bottom of the car is plenty high off the ground. I can make it higher.

I know what you mean about that.I finally ran across a local guy with a kwik lift for 400 bucks.I was really happy to get it.

Do you put the planks under the ramps to raise them or on top in the tire cradle area to get more clearance?

Ditto/with 3 ton stands. Sometimes the ramps do get in the way. How
about that photo at the "TOP"? WOW!

why don't you just dig a big hole under the the car and work on it from inside the hole
