Bizarre - Tire Question
18x10.5 rear, 18x9.5 front for my '94 coupe.
All wheel/tire packages I've seen for 18s feature 295/35 rear and 275/35 front....so when I called Discount Tire tonight to order said tire sizes, the guy was telling me their system recommends 275/40 fronts, not 275/35, in part because of load-bearing reasons.
My question: what's the deal? It sounds bizarre! I've got both front sizes there and can have either installed this coming Saturday.

That tire is approx. 1" taller in overall diameter than your original front tire.
275/40-17 = 25.66" approx. diameter
275/35-18 = 25.57" approx. diameter
275/40-18 = 26.66" approx. diameter.
You want to stay as close to the original diameter as possible.

Completely. Someone is blowing a little smoke!
It really threw me at the time because I was completely not expecting it...and he was pretty adamant. There's that moment of doubt even though you've seen something a hundred times.
He said they only move to 35 at 19" wheels. That's when I thought
