Texas people, inside please
Me and the wife will be taking the am trak from Chicago to Texas
(the Texas Eagle) in a few days to San Antonio where we'll stay a couple
of days, then heading down to South Padre Island for a few more. what's
to do/see or not. Any tip's?. Thanks in advance George
Japanese Gardens, boat ride down the riverwalk, and San Antonio zoo too. If you have some spare time, run up to Austin and see the State Capitol and LBJ's ranch as well.

The boat ride sounds great & the place we're staying says it's
close to the zoo.
The boat ride is fun....the boat captains are all amateur comedians and you get a good Texas history lesson to boot. Now is a good time to go to San Antonio...in the summer the heat and humidity get pretty bad. It is a fun city though.

DO NOT do anything that gets you thrown in the Port Aransas drunk tank during spring break. There are no blankets, you have to sleep on the ice cold cement floor and all the drunk college students are puking their guts out.
Don't ask how I know.
