Hey everyone. I just replaced my headlights with some Silverstars. The installation was easy, however every time after I use my brights the bright light indicator stays on even when the lights are on dim. Any ideas what it could be? It never did this before and I know everything is hooked up the same.
Yeah, it's weird. I turn the headlights on and the bright light indicator is not on. I'll switch to bright and back to dim and the light stays on. I have not seen/heard of that before either.
Try putting your stock head lights BACK in and see if it does it...
If it no longer does it then its an issue with the light.... If it contiues to do it then there is a short somewhere.
When corvettehid.com came and installed the plug and play HID set up on my car we were having issues with the high beam light staying on while the lights were on and it was a simple fix of switching wires to different terminals. In your case you DID NOT switch any wires so if there may be a short. That may cause it to read that its pulling more voltage and trip the high beam indicator...
Just a thought... I havent seen a head light wire diagram in AGES but Im trying to recall how we cured my issue...

I've seen this happen on an 88 if you went to a different driving light bulb. Not the headlight but the foglight. Its been so long, but the main reason was the foglights are grounded through the high beam circuit (or something like that)
I think you have an issue with one of the lights. Try disconnecting one of them & try it. Then reconnect & try the other to determine which light has the problem.
usual perp in this act is a bad ground from one lite...pull the connector off the bulbs one at a time / reconnect till the dash telltale chills, check the ground wire at that bulb.
I have not had time to take the lights apart yet. I think I'll just be leaving it this way until we get a rainy day. As long as the dims and brights still work I am not too worried about it. I was curious if anyone else had this happen to them and I got some great answers. I'll let you know what comes of this as soon as I get a chance to work on it.
