I just the 'vette out of winter storage; couldn't even open the garage door until the other day. Maine winters!! Anyway, I'm bummed about losing all the drive time in the winter so I want to convert the car to 4 wheel drive and add one of those hydraulic lift kits so I can drive above the snow. Has anybody done this and how feasible is it? hanks, Larry
You should shop around for a Vette with the FBF-4 option, 4-wheel drive, and optional RHE-7 Ride Height Extender package. Together, these options will allow you to cruise effortlessly above the snow, and after April Fool's Day can be returned to normal position for the rest of the season!
Maybe up there it does....never heard of that before!
April Fools' Day or All Fools' Day is a day celebrated in various countries on April 1. The day is marked by the commission of hoaxes and other practical jokes of varying sophistication on friends, family members, enemies, and neighbors, or sending them on a fool's errand, the aim of which is to embarrass the gullible. Traditionally, in some countries, such as the UK, Canada, Australia, and South Africa the jokes only last until noon, and someone who plays a trick after noon is called an "April Fool".[1]
"In most of the US, pranks are allowed all day, not just until noon like the poor folks in the previously-mentioned countries. And in Texas, pranks and practical jokes are permitted all year long, especially when perpetrated against unsuspecting felines in Canada".
Good lord, I'm from Maine also but I've never considered turning my C4 into a 4X4! It would not be very feasible what you are describing. Its not a common thing that is done to corvettes so there is no aftermarket for it that I am aware of. Any corvette tires that will fit on the stock size wheels will suck for winter driving. You could remove the air dam, throw on some beefy snow tires mounted on narrower wheels and raise the stock suspension as high as it will go. Just doing that would get you something you could drive through the winter in everything but the worst snow storms. I just store mine for winters.
