Help

I have an 89', and it ran great up until a few weeks ago. I was changing the battery and found the positive cable to have no slack, so I decided to pull on it, (don't ask why) and I heard a pop. Went in to start the car and nothing. Lights come on, dash lights up, but no starter. I thought I had broke the cable so I put a new positive cable but still nothing. Any ideas of what that popping sound was? Could it be something on the starter? Any help would be appreciated.

Check your fuses.
I think you shorted something, but I would check all the wire connections at the starter. you can test the starter by putting direct current to it from the batt.
