Ok I seem to be missing something: I am in the middle of replacing my starter:1991 Coupe with an Automatic, orginal exhaust with Pre-cats
I made the mistake of taking the stater out in pieces. Then at least I was smart enough to have it rebuilt. Instead of using a cheap replacement.
So know I need to learn the trick to getting back in.
Thanks
On my 91, I held the starter vertically and after slightly bending and pushing on the transmission cooler lines, I was able to get the starter through.
Did you have the flange side go through first or the back of the starter ? You are right once you get passed everything it is easy just not a lot of room. I will try this tonight when I get home - thank you for your response
I think I pushed the back of the starter in first, that way I didn't have to turn the starter around to bolt it in.
When you look at it, you'll think this will never fit through but, with some wiggling and patience it'll work it's way in. It only took me under an hour to complete.
