Well actually, if you are doing it on a regular basis you should get a valve to turn off the rear brakes. I have seen a video of a TA doing a burn out for like 3 min, and the rear brakes were bright orange, and everything was shot.
1.damage brakes
2.blow a tire, and rip out rear fender wells.
3.keep the motor wound out too high and cause problems
It is a simple thing, but all of these things happen to these cars. (chances are nothng will happen, but smoke)
I think they are a little . Possible damage to the whole drivetrain. Tire wear @ $200 per tire, most of my friends think it is fast just parked. They all drive pickups. And they all think I am a little nuts anyway, why prove it.
Once you get the tires spinning it is not necessary to keep the engine 'floored'. Get the rpms down to just keep the tires spinning and producing smoke. WATCH your engine temps!!!! If it gets over 240 STOP!
This guy did it right. Won the competition AND drove it home.
This guy DIDN'T. Blown engine and various other problems. Said the engine temp registered 500*!!!!
The best mod for a burn-out contest would be a line lock. That will lock your front brakes and disable your back brakes. With the line lock engaged you will not tear up your back brakes or rotors and you will need less power (rpms) to keep the tires spinning. You will however beat the crap out of you back tires!!!

Its hard on everything from front to rear, if you wanna risk it to show off go for it but the repair bill is yours.
If you get even a little wheel hop you can blow a trans or rear apart in a hurry, it destroys the rear brakes, gets them to about a million degrees which could cook the bearings or a few other things...
You want to do a burnout? Buy an 80s Buick for $500, put in a line lock, burn it down and still come out cheaper than using a Corvette.
Ok, I found some videos off Google, the first two are from Cruise In II in Bowling Green, the third video is from CRuise In II as well, the last two are from Cruise In III.
Drove 850 miles to and 850 miles home with no problems at all.
