The RH headlight shroud has come "unglued"....
The flat part of the shroud (that meshes with the clam when headlights are closed) consists of two parts which are glued together:
1-outer part that is seen when HL doors are closed
2-inner part (sort of a fiber glass frame) bolts to the HL assembly
One corner of the "frame" (2) has come unglued from the outer part (1) so the outer part now does not sit smoothly in line with the clam and even catches on the clam preventing full headlight movement.
I want to find a glue that will seep in between the two pieces so that I don't have to try and fully separate the two parts completely.
Anyone have a suggestion, other than crazy glue, that might fit such an application??
Yes, getting it clean was the hardest part since only a corner and across the front of the frame had separated from the cover. Brake parts cleaner & coarse sand paper did a decent job though.
Finally, I used a "60-sec" epoxy (that is well named) where possible, a layer of JB Weld across the front of the frame and some crazy-glue to seep under the tight surfaces not accessable to the 60-sec stuff.
It already feels very solod; I think it may hold for another 20+ years.
I've filed away the ref to the 3-M repair kit for future reference and work on my "project".
