Default Detailing methods?

What do you all use and how frequently do you do them. Right now I use Meguiars products. I use a wash and wax soap, because there is a coat on it now but I plan on getting some clay, wax and polish. To keep the paint immaculate. I have been handwashing but I'm not use to fine detailing. I would also want a blackener for plastics around the outside I think its called back to black. I have looked this subject up on google but I wanted to know from trained professionals
What you use and how frequently? For the most part by frequently I mean the big stuff like wax, clay, and polish, not regular washing, I do that once a week.

As far as wax goes, my Corvette has had "Liquid Glass" car wax on it (has an old red corvette on the can" since 87. It's about 30-40 dollars for a bottle depending on where you buy it. It is EXCELLENT. As far as back to black goes.. eh. That stuff doesn't actually restore any color of the molding. As long as none of it has faded, then it should be alright. With the Liquid Glass, you can wax your car every 3-4 months. I only have to wax mine 2-3 a year but I only put a few thousand on it a year, and it is always garaged and never brought out in the rain (i dont know if your corvette is the same or not). 2-3 times a year and that's wth washing it every 2-3 weeks to keep the dust off. Classic Windex for windows/wheels and Black Magic tire shine on the tires works well since it doesn't sling any. As far as the interior, Armor All leather conditioner works GREAT for the seats and dash area. Hope this helps out a bit.. but as far as wax..the Liquid Glass works amazing!

Thanks for the input. It hasn't been in the rain yet but most likely it will see some rain. I do garage it but again for now it is my daily car. The only time I won't drive it is snow or really hard rain....don't want to get that opti wet, lol!

Some Meguires reps give a excellent detail seminar - if a club holds one in your area.

You can try all kinds of stuff. If it is a dd, you might just use turtle wax or something. If I had a show car I might care more about the polish.
You will learn most from the guys in the car care section.

We use C-MAGIC. It's the best and easiest I have found. They use it at the corvette musem on those cars.

Meguiars makes a product in a black squeeze bottle. I can never find it in the stores so I order it direct. I have used it on really old plastic and it works great. It makes plastic that has been taken care of look like new.

From what I have been told, the sun eventually leeches oil out of plastic which causes the whitish effect. You need to replenish the oil and that brings the black back.

To be honest, I find technique matters more then product. Find a product you like and use it. On my '85 I've been using the meguiars nxt 2.0 tech wax.

I do the full detail on my car about once every 4 or 5 months. However my cars spend most of their time in parking garages while I'm on the road so they need the dust knocked off more then they need cleaning. Hop over into the southwest section and look into the NCCO thread. Good group of guys in the OKC area.

I hate detailing. Just spent the past week, (couple hours a day after work) and most of Sunday (about 14 hours total) using a Porter Cable with Adams Swirl Remover, then Machine Polish, then wax. I use a local company, Jax wax, 100% carnuba with no water in it. You can apply the wax to a Black car in 90 deg sunshine in the morning, and it comes right off that afternoon. You can also apply it before storing it, then buff it off months later. No flakey dust comes off due to no water being in it like most liquid waxes.

I've started using polishing and waxing products from Detail supply outlet. Their Satin creme has to be the best sealant/wax I've ever used. You name it, i've used it; NXT 2.0, Mothers, Turtle wax, Zaino... ext.

I have an auto detail business and their blends of different carnauba waxes and polymers give the best shine using a buffer. Go's on easy and comes of easy. If you have a dark colored car or one with metallic, try the satin creme.

The black to black stuff looks good when you first put it on but it wears off as well. I wish I knew of a good product that would actually work and last. If someone does please PM me.

I use Meguiars products. Cleaner, Polish, wax. Clay bar if needed.
