Got a problem I thought some of you may be able to help troubleshoot. After about 30 miles of driving, I'll stop and put the car in park.....and when I start driving again, it feels like the E-brake is on.....no idle speed, and have to give it some gas to move.....then it'll pull to the left once I start driving. I'll let it sit for an hour or so, and it'll be fine.....but about 30 miles later or so, it'll start doing the same thing again. Guess it's brake-related.....Any tips on where to start troubleshooting?
Always received fast and good advice here.....thanks in advance!
Sounds like it might be a heat-related issue, perhaps caused by a binding caliper piston. (Metal expands when heated.) You mentioned it pulls to the left. First thing I'd check after 30 min of driving is the relative temps of the four calipers/rotors. If one of the left ones is much hotter than the other three, you have likely found the source.
Time to replace both front brake calipers. I bleed my brakes every two years to get the water out of the system. If the brakes are not bled, eventually the water makes the piston walls rusty and the calipers stick.
Thanks for the replies.....along the lines of what I was thinking, but I'm a humble sort and appreciate any shortcuts in troubleshooting.....any more replies are welcome, and appreciated. Thanks.....you guys rock!
