Do ya know that black and white Chinese emblem?? I'm beginning to think
the interior of my '92 vette was designed with that in mind...
I have an Artic White exterior vette with black interior & white leather seats
and door panels interior. The RPO codes show this is a factory option.
However, I noticed today while removing the factory phone that the driver's
door is different from the passenger's door in the way its colored.
It goes like this... the driver's door is white & black (like the passenger's) and
is black where the armrest/handle/remote mirror/window controls, etc are
located. However, the passenger's door is white & black too, but where the driver's door is black - the passenger's door is white! There is a grab handle built into the door (where there is none on the driver's side). It looks
completely factory, just different in the way the door is colored. A check with
a local dealer reveals they came that way right from the factory... doesn't look
bad - just puzzeling as to the color scheme.
Anyone else with this interior/exterior color combination have the same
difference between the doors?? Curious...
I believe all 90-92s (poss. 93-96 as well) are like this.......I know my 91 torch red gut is the same...the driver and pass. door panels are completley different. :yesnod:
Yes, my '93 door panels are not the same either. This can kind of take you by surprise if you are not aware that that was the way that they were put together from the factory.
My 92 has white leather interior. It is the same as you described. They did this in order to make the driver feel more like a cockpit with all the black.
Gordon Killebrew talks about this in his "Most Asked Questions" booklet. The reason is that the "Wraparound cockpit" feel is enhanced by the continuation of the dash color onto the door.
