Just saw that article, good idea on doing the all the pieces. Reminds me of when you did my interior pieces. After seeing those pics, I wish I would have sent you my headlight **** and ASR button too. Nice job.

Hey Jason...is the ASR **** and headlight **** the same? If so, I have cores now and can do them, send them to you and you can send back the stock ones
About the stereo......I have been kicking around the idea of replacing. I really do not want to put a single DIN in and the stereo shop said a double DIN is too large. He said the stock unit is about the size of a 1 1/2 DIN. What did you end up putting in it and was there any modifying the dash panel?
Wayne, I see that you have a '91, I'm not sure but I think you have a double DIN like mine. The early c4 had a 1.5 DIN and the later cars had 2DIN. Mine fit perfectly with noe modifications except to cut out the rear plastic back that the rear stud of the factory HU mounted into.
I bought the brand new Pioneer AVH-3200BT and an adapter harness from Crutchfiled. After figuring the wiring out it didn't take too long to install and getting it fired up.
NOTE: I have this HU playing through the factory BOSE Gold System Speakers and it sounds really great. Additionally, I know that some of you will think I'm smoking Crack, but it sounds significantly better than before and even seems to give a little more db out of the speakers. I don't know how this is possible, but I'm happy with whatever has occurred.
As I stated before the Pioneer AVH-3200BT is a remarkable little unit for under $500. It sounds really incredible considering I just plugged it into the Crutchfield cable and connected it to the Bose Radio control module. The Crutchfield cable was about $35 and it is really quite a harness. Bottom line is that it sounds good enough to NOT go running out and buying amps and speakers like I had initially thought I would be doing. I decided to give the Crutchfield harness a try and it seems to have panned out OK. Also, the Pioneer deck has a built in Sub-amp with RCA outputs for a sub-woofer. I was going to go this route to try it, but I just didn't think it was necessary as the rest of the system sounds great as is.
Thats a sharp looking head unit you have there! How is it at night (does it dim)? How is it in the day with the sunlight (can you see it clearly)? How is it viewing from the drivers seat and passenger seat?
And you said all you had to do is out the bracket in (no fab required), and connect the stock wires to the wiring harness converter? Then you just plug it into the back of the head unit?
I really like this because it almost looks stock, and if my head unit ever goes, this is probably the direction I will go!!!
Nothing in these C4's is going to be viewed by the passenger well because of the "cockpit" nature and everything angled to the driver. Passenger needs their own screen...lol.
Yeah, im just curious about the angle of the screen. Its hard to tell from pictures!
You gotta love the "cockpit nature" of the dash!!! Its really nice to know the car was built for the driver!
Can I clarify? (iow let me get this straight
Crutch field has an adapter to go from the aftermarket head unit into the Bose remote unit? soooo its really just plug and play?
I would luuuuuv to swap out my bose HU for a more modern system but I like the way it currently sounds.
I don't mind ripping everything out but if I don't need to well...

Sorry for not checking back sooner, but you guys jumped on this one today pretty hard. The Crutchfield harness plugs into the control module behind the passenger seat in the 1994 corvette. There is still some soldering to do at the head unit end between the Crutchfield Harness and the small harness that comes with the head unit. It took me some head scratchin' but I got it working great. I also built a video bypass from a relay to allow the DVD and video to play at all times. The only issue it still has is that the Bose Amps will turn on before the H/U and off after the H/U which causes a pop in the audio line when you turn the unit off or on. I called an audio expert guy from some California website that sells filters and relays to eliminate this pop, but since it would require a relay for each of the four channels and he said it would not harm the system, I'm OK with that and, I'm living with it. When I stick in the key and start the motor, all of the sound from the engine and and tailpipes drowns out the pop on startup so that's not an issue. The only time its a problem is when you turn off the car and the wife is sitting there asking what that POP was!!
The music sounds great -- I may at a later date do separate speakers and an amp for a sub, but for now I'm very happy with the results. I think a lot of the sound quality has to do with the head unit and its design, but I'm no audio expert so I'm not sure. I'm just reporting back my observations.
