I had my thunderbird on ebay for sale and the listing ended today. Just before it ended a person from england with absolutely no feedback wants my name address and phone number so he can send me a check today via fedex. The only problem I have with it is how does he think he is going to get the car to england with the motor and tranny being out and the car in need of total restoration.
I am pretty sure it is a scam, but wanted to hear what you guys think.

I would say yes, it is probably a scam. If he really wanted to buy your car, he would have placed a bid on it. Wanting to do the transaction outside of eBay is a sure sign of scam.

Although your situation sound like it is prob a scam, They are some heavy buyers of classics over seas. I had a friend sell a 69 roadrunner on ebay for 3x what he was asking local to someone over seas (don't remember where) They sent a check, He waited for it to clear and once it completely cleared the buyer had a shipping container shipped to his house on a flat bed truck. They loaded the car, strapped it down and pad locked it shut. 5 weeks later he got an email including a picture of the car with it's happy new owner. His buyer bid on the car and had feedback. Any off ebay deals is just asking for trouble.
Euros love the 60's-70's era cars and pay big bucks for them. Not only did he pay 3x more then what the car was worth (imo). I would hate to see what the shipping charges would be.
