I wouldn't go to either one. One guy put so much trans fluid in my SUV that it was coming out then he wanted to rebuild my trans.

Mcdonalds has good burgers !? Ive not had a decent burger from mcdonalds in years. In fact I think they are very nasty burgers.... And yet I always go back..........

It was just a little 2.8L 700r4 in a 88 s10 pickup.
It was $800 for the transmission to be removed, rebuilt and installed.
This was approx 6-7 years ago.
It's cheap to rebuild a GM automatic transmission. A 4.3L/V8 700r4 master kit is only $99

Can be bought here:http://racetransmissions.com/store/p...roducts_id/407

Had an 89 that had an AAMCO rebuilt in it when I bought it. Worked pretty good, sure its hit and miss: maybe for a stock rebuild but wouldnt put any real power behind it obviously
How did they say your starter was worn out, they either work or they dont.
Always get everything in writing (including the warranty)otherwise youre stuck paying it.

The McDonalds here by the airport gave up advertising the Angus burger....seems every day some miscreant was removing the "g" from the sign.

I was in the transmission business back in the mid 70's. In that period AAmco was hit hard by the justice department for "salting the pans" on transmissions. After the big fine, they had to drop the pan in front of the customer. I don't know of that is still the case as I learned how to rebuild many years ago and still do most of my own work.

It is a franchise operation and I am sure some are good, But I don't think I would ever chance it.

Use a reputable mom and pop transmission shop. I strongly recommend Southwest Gear for anyone in my area.

Ive never had it. After hardees came out with the angus burger It became my burger of choice. Then BK started their own "angus" burger and I gave that a shot.... Since then ive been scared to eat anyone's angus burger. It was so horrible that just the thought of it makes me shiver

I believe it may have been an anus burger for sure. Mcd's normal hamburgers being so nasty I figured the angus burger would be just as bad..

Sprinking ground up metal into the trans pan to create the illusion of a failing trans. Pull pan, dump metal fibers in it, show to customer so they panic and bite for a new overhaul. Old, old trick done by many dishonest shops. Aamco is not the only one to do it. Any sneaky, scumbag at any shop has the ability to do this.

What most people didn't know that some debris in the bottom of the pan was from normal wear, but they fell for it anyway.

I was going to to this by myself in Dad's drive way. But mom and dad said no take it to a auto shop. I could have had all this done in no time and not be wasting money. Now Im worried if they put suger in my gas tank, or drain half the oil out of mt tranny, or worst. I know for a fact everytime I go to see the cost of something to have done to my baby they see money and try to scare me into something I dont need.

Someone said something about the starter and yes I know Im getting screwed along with the oil.

Default Double A, Stay Away!

Took mine in to AAMCO because I was stranded. I couldn't change gears in my manual. They replaced the Master and Slave cylinder. When I picked the car up after repairs, I noticed the clutch felt like it still had air in the lines. Sure as sh*t, the mgr said they didn't bleed the lines enough. I had to come back the next day to get the car.

600 miles and 10 months later, the parts crapped out and I was stranded again. Their warranty was for 6 months, so I had to pay for the parts and labor again if I wanted the repair to be done??? Being I only put on 600 miles in a 10 month period, they still wouldn't give in. I told them to F themselves and will never go back to an AAMCO ever again. Poor work + poor customer service = me never endorsing them ever again.

Earlier today I got a phone call from AAMCO home office. They where calling me because I left a message on want was going on.

I drop my 1990 chevy Corvette off at 8721 Atlantic boulevard Jacksonville FL, 32211 on April 26,2010 in the morning. It is now May 5,2010. This shop with hold the AAmco name has been messing up my car the day I gave to them for a new FlyWheel, and Clutch kit. I had to get a Clutch kit with wheelfly myself because they could not find a flywheel to fit my car. They did not tell me they broke a bolt off in my flywheel or the fact they changed my trannys' oil. the person that run the store has try to bully me thinking I do not know anything about cars let alone my corvette. I would like to speak with someone about this matter because the guy is threatening to hold my car and not give it back till I pay in cash. He wont let me use a card to pay.

This is the reply I got after talking on the phone (267-464-0019)

Dear Mr. Smith: We talked to the operator of the AAMCO franchise who indicates that they advised you that fluid would be included in the cost of the service, that they replaced the bolt without causing any damage to your vehicle and that your vehicle will be ready today. The operator of the AAMCO franchise also states that if you intend to pay for his charges by credit card that it will be necessary for the credit card holder to sign the credit card authorization in person. AAMCO Customer Relations.

This guy never said oil change was included it and dad queastion him on what was going to be done and nothing about an oil change was said.

I was wondering if I should report this to the BBB?

First off, I hope you explained it over the phone better than you wrote it.

Second, why fight at this point, it's done. Pay the bill and learn a lesson. It most likely needed to be serviced anyways.

Now go have fun with it...............

That's exactly my thoughts. I use a shop that I've been going to for years, Hiro's Transmission in Lancaster Ca. They are totally up front with everything. Brought the 87' Blue One there for a automatic tranny service at 109K, just because the fiance never had it done and the fluid wasn't as healthy red as it should be. They dropped the pan, inspected, replaced the filter and full flush for a reasonable amount, then told us "nothing wrong, everything is fine".

Same shop, Years ago, brought a 90's Escort wagon in their and they told me, don't bother rebuilding it, it will cost you more than the car is worth. Great advice and I found a low mileage used one on line for a 1/4 of the price they wanted to charge (the Escorts were basically Mazda drivetrains and the *** trannies are horrifyingly expensive to rebuild!!!).

Took the Red One there and no problems either. It is good to hook up with a good mechanic and other shops before you need em and not when you're desperate, but sometimes circumstances and location will leave you vulnerable.

There is a website called 'Yelp' and they specialize in reviews on all kinds of business's and that's how I found a shop in San Francisco to inspect a C3 that I almost purchased. The reviews were outstanding and it was a good thing too, as that shop told me every single thing wrong with the car and then, when I asked if it was worth the asking price (would you buy it?) he flat out told me 'no way'. The deal fell through right there and then. Especially with a long laundry list of expensive rebuild, replace or just plain bad stuff.
