I used to use mine a lot. Mostly when I had to leave the car parked in the sun all day at work. Interior does not get so hot. thats not a problem since I dont have a job.

I have one and its a must when I have the top off. when driving with top off there is so much wind pressure that builds up in the back, but with the vent it all goes away and there is not very much wind noise

So it does not allow any movement in the hatch while driving? I guess that is my only concern with it.

...until it breaks in half while you're going down the road allowing the back window to open up. The one I had was made out some kinda POS metal.

I have one on mine in the summer months and it makes a world of difference for air circulation when the top is on, or as stated above, when you have the top off it increases the air flow and reduces the noise from the air.

I use mine for work, and I park in a lot of store parking lots, and it allows air in while the car is sitting, therefore allowing it to stay cooler in the summertime.

I do live in Oregon though, so our summers are far and few between.

I take it that the hatch window is not open wide enough when this vent is being used to turn on the interior lights?

nope, at least on the one I have which was made by a forum member. Has a post which de-activates the switch simulating a closed hatch.

There is an adjustment tool that comes with it so that if is too far open, you can adjust it to where your interior lights turn off.

I had one of the type that was easy twist-on/twist-off. Unfortunately, the few times I used it was more trouble than it was worth. For example, going down the street once or twice the gizmo somehow disconnected and the hatch completely opened (could have been dangerous but luckily was just embarrassing). Other times it would end up screwing with the system that sensed when doors/hatch were opened. Even though it had the plunger that fooled the system into believing the hatch was closed, this was not foolproof and interior lights would sometimes randomly come on while driving.

All-in-all a good idea but poorly implemented (at least by the gizmo I was using).

I have a Lady friend that has one (from Ecklers I think) and she says she likes it. She says it reduces the buffeting flutter effect you get with the targa top off and driving on the highway. It looks to be cast steel, but I'm really not sure what metal it is. I'm going to see if she'll let me borrow it to see if I like it before I get one for myself.

I have the twist on/twist off type and it works great. I even used it on my trip to the National Corvette Museum which is almost 400 miles round trip from my house with no problems at interstate speed for most of the trip. I’ve never had any of the problems that DougSilver has had with it for the two years that I’ve used it. I like it because it’s quick to install and remove.

I have the 49.00 one and love it. I use it all the time with no problems. The 29.00 screws on and you have to use the tool for the targa top, the 49.00 just pops on and off. I've had both and the extra 20.00 is worth it.
