I have asked this question before..but forgot. Is the normal operating temperature like 230 to 240? On a 1995 LT1?

in very heavy traffic it can get to 235 but then the fans kick in- I forgot exactly what temp the the fans come on. Cruising, the temps are way too hot.should be 195-205 with the stock settings and stock thermostat (180 dg.) If you have the a/c on then both fans are automatically on. If your temps are for cruising then check the radiator for road "junk" these cars are prone to catch all debris in the radiator. Also check the fluid in the radiator and also check to see if both fans are operating as intended.
good luck

First fan comes on at 228F and second fan comes on at 238F, fans go off at 210F. Nothing in the engine is harmed by 240 F. GM says to shut the engine off at 260F and let it cool down.

Mine gets up there a bit too, so when the pucker factor gets to much for me I turn on the AC. Cools it right down.
