Hi everybody. I'm 61 and I finally have a Corvette. Bought an 85 coupe that needs some brake, dash and paint work. I've been working on cars all my life and look forward to getting the car back in shape. I hoping I can contribute to the forum but I'll probably be asking way more questions than I'm answering. My first question concerns factory service manuals. Are the manuals on cd that are listed on EBay any good? I'm going to need some manuals but I want the GM ones or maybe some other manuals that people like.
Hey Moon- welcome aboard and welcome to the C4 bestest forum here. Regarding the manuals, I like to have the laptop free to use this forum for repairs as many have pictures on the how-to's, and then have the good ol fashioned book handy for other details.
My suggestion - get the Helm book (The factory manual). You will Eventually be buying it anyhow, might as well get it First and save the time, expense and aggravation of messing around with anything else...
About the manuals, I'm watching the cd and the printed version on EBay. I've got 2 laptops so taking the old one to the garage for the cd isn't a problem.
Welcome aboard, pics. of your new vette is mandatory here. their like candy to us. Also check the for sale section here in C4 forum. I see alot of manuals in there for a good prices too.
Welcome aboard, the cd manual is probably fine for now and a lot cheaper. You can print out the pages needed and throw them out if they get dirty or keep them in a folder for future reference.

Hey Moon, welcome to the beast from another over the hill member! Forget all that manual stuff for the moment (you will need one sooner or later though) the main thing is to watch out for a sneaky Texas dog and a mangy old Canadian wild cat! Not really, you'll get aquainted with a great bunch of people and have access to a wealth of usable information.
I guess it depends on if you want your computer greasy or the manual. One advantage to the copy on CD is you can print the page you need and take it to the car. The advantage to the books is if you drop the book it will still work!
Yeah, I know. I've been searching for kitty/dog-in-compromising-pics to post but haven't found any good ones yet. We've got two weeks to aim at Sweetsie, so I'm focusing on the dog for now. Oh, and welcome to the new guy, too. If you haven't noticed, the crew here is easily sidetracked, and you never know ( and sometimes don't want to) which way a thread will go.
