Has anyone run into this ? Sometimes, not always, after I fold the roof into the back , when I go to close the hatch only one side catches and the other side stays slightly up. If I close it from the drivers side the passenger side doesnt catch and vice versa. If i push it down from the middle it seems whatever side hits first will close. Again, this doesnt happen all the time.
Is there something I may be doing wrong? Is there a proper way to close the hatch?

I no longer have a C4 convertible so I am unable to go out to the garage and look. It could be something as simple as lubrication. A shot of WD40 might be all you need.
I never had that problem with either the 87 or 96 verts that I owned unless I had failed to use enough force to close the lid or if I had not fully folded the top.
I read a tip for those of you with plastic rear windows. It said to put a rolled up towel in the "crease" when you lower the top. This keeps the window from rubbing against itself and eliminates the ugly scratching and hazing. I always used a cheap beach towel on the 87 after reading that.
Good luck!
I have a 95 with the glass window. I just had the roof replace about two weeks ago so I cross my fingers everytime I lower the top.
I know sometimes the wire for the rear defrost lays across the latch and I have to move it before I shut the hatch.
I will give the oil a shot also.
My passenger side would not always close, when I closed it from the drivers side. I put some lithium grease on the latches and lubed the cable where it connected and this seemed to take care of it.
