Default Too hot?

Yesterday my car got really hot 252 degrees on the coolant and about 224 in the oil for what im guessing was about 5 minutes before i noticed it and shut the car down . It turned out to be the Thermostat went bad and has been replaced and running back to normal. But my question is do you guys think that its possible that some mild damage to the motor has been done or is 252 not really going to do any damage?

Should be ok. Conventional oil doesn't coke until around 250*, I think.

You didn't indicate what year you have/ Was that the digital readout or the analog.

You shud be ok as long as there are no strange noises, etc.

Your fan should of kicked on at 228. Hard to say if any damage was done. Might want to change the oil. What year is your car?

If 224* warrants an oil change, then I'd be changing mine about once a week.

224 isnt bad (pretty normal) but he was at 252. Think the oil has broke down? I wouldnt risk it. I'd spend the 20 bucks and swap out the oil.

A n LT4 should be filled with Mobile 1. If so it should be fine. Smell it, if it smells burned change it.

If there was any any damage, I would guess a headgasket but probably none at all (thats the most common result of a major overheat, followed by a warped or cracked head) but I wouldn't think yours got hot enough long enough to do any damage.
